HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN

In exactly 4 hours and 40 minutes my baby boy will be 3 years old. I can hardly believe it's already been three whole years. It has been such a blessing to learn the world all over again thru the eyes of my child.

Well 6am will be here soon. I must get some sleep before tomorrow begins.

Goodnight....

$3.00/Gallon

Can you believe the cost of gasoline? I have never heard of something so outrageous in my life. I drive a Chevrolet Tahoe. It now takes more than $60 to fill up my tank. At this rate, I'll be taking out a second mortgage to pay for gas. So, I have found a solution. A motorcycle. And I believe we'll see alot more of these on the road before it's over with. If only I could figure out how to strap my 3 year old on the back. I hear bungee cords hold pretty tight.....LOL

Justin's Party

Justin's birthday party was yesterday. It was great! He was so excited. He will turn 3 on Wednesday. Since next weekend is Labor Day, we had his party this weekend. There was quiet a turn out. He wanted his cake before everyone arrived. That was a small battle. But after several serious conversations, he came to the realization that if he wanted cake at all, he had to wait.

We grilled hot dogs for lunch and had the usual sides, baked beans, chips and dip. Next was the cake. Made specially for his current fascination, John Deere tractors. It was fabulous.

We finally got to the presents. I made the common mistakes of letting him open the toys first. Working machines. He got a backhoe, front loader and a road scraper. After opening those he could have cared less about the other gifts. With much coaxing and saying, "See if there's another backhoe in this present", he opened the remaining gifts. The child racked up... lots of clothes, doodle pad, t-ball set, baseball and glove and a fishing pole.

Once he finished opening, we let him play for a few minutes before telling him there was a surprise in the garage. With a backhoe in one hand and a road scraper in the other, he walked outside. You should have seen the look on that little boy's face. Priceless! There sat a ride on John Deere tractor and trailer. He jumped right on and took off. He drove that thing like a pro.

After lots of playing we all came home and took a much needed nap.

I could'nt have asked for a better day for my special birthday boy.

Damn Dogs

I keep my dog on a runner. And when I let her loose she stays in my yard. She doesn’t wander the neighborhood or get into anyone’s trash. So why does everyone else’s dogs insist on hanging around here, pissing on my tires, getting into trash and tearing up my stuff. Why can’t people have the same consideration that I have for them. It’s not the dogs’ fault. Hey people, if your not gonna come over here and clean up their mess, then keep your damn dogs in your own yard……

My Baby Boy

It seems like only yesterday…. I was 9 months pregnant, waddling around on the verge of popping, hot, tired and loving every minute of it. Now my little man is about to turn 3. My how time flys. And now, for those of you who are interested, I will enlighten you on how he came into this world.
My due date was October 4. On August 30, 2002, 2:00pm, I went for a regular check up. Note: I still had 5 weeks to go. My blood pressure was thru the roof and I was ready to stroke at any given moment (literally). Of course they immediately admitted me for observation and to get my pressure down. After several hours, they decided it was in my best interest and the interest of my unborn child to induce the following morning. The nursery wasn’t painted, I didn’t have a crib, I hadn’t packed my bags….Hell, I hadn’t even began to get ready. I still had 5 weeks left, for crying out loud. At 8pm the doctor came in to check me and I was already in labor. Still in the womb, he was already doing things his way. With the help of very little medication and NO epidural, he arrived at 4:47am, August 31st. 4 lbs. 7 ozs. and healthy. He was small, but strong. Absolutely no problems for such a tiny little thing. 8 days later, he was home. He was and still is such a blessing. And here we are, 3 years later. It’s hard to believe my tiny little bundle of joy, is now a strong willed, independent, trying, “I’ll do things my way!”, 3 year old. Before I know it, he’ll be asking for the keys to the car.
So, I sit here tonight, wrapping presents, preparing for tomorrow’s big party, and looking back on the last 3 years…..my baby boy is growing up.

Rock Climbing........

Today was the annual festival for the small town in which I live. Brooklet Peanut Festival. A small town celebration of the peanut harvest. I wish they would put it off another month. It’s always as hot as forty hells. And that’s why I usually skip out on all the fun. It was the first time I’ve gone in several years. Now that my little one is old enough to enjoy it, I figured, why the hell not. And it was time well spent. There were lots of ‘firsts’ for Justin. His first parade, first kiddie ride, first cotton candy.
There was also a first for me. The ROCK CLIMBING WALL. I’ve always wanted to see if I was capable. Being a tomboy.....I was a natural tree climber as a child, so I knew I had it in me. And I was told by my closest friend just the other day, “You have toes long enough to hang from tree branches”. AML….apparently you were right!!! Unfortunately I was in flip flops so the only option was to go barefooted. I scaled the wall like a pro. To the top in no time at all. The hardest part was letting go and propelling down. With a couple of second thoughts, I managed to put my trust in the cable and let go. Quiet the rush for a small town girl who’s never done anything adventurous. Sure I’ve been on my fair share of roller coasters and done some really crazy stuff. But nothing like bungee jumping or skydiving. Who knows….This may lead to more wild and crazy adventures. Only time will tell!
Well, I will try to keep up with posting. Thanks to all my friends for encouragement. Soon I will have this blogging thing down pat and my writing skills will become more refined.
Take care of you. Until next time……

Long Time No See

……My apologizes for not posting over the past week. Things have been crazy at work and home. It sometimes seems impossible to find time to post. But I could squeeze it in if I didn’t spend so much time surfing other’s blogs. Anyway…. Justin is still having problems in school. It has turned out to be more of an adjustment then I could’ve ever imagined. Everyone assures me that it will get better with time. So, we’ll see.
Work has been crazy. Being a secretary for 10 consultants can be very difficult at times. I usually work better under pressure, but this past week turned out to be a real challenge. (Poor me!)
Now for today’s news. I went for my walk. I’ve been walking every weekend now for about 2 months. I would like to walk everyday, but I would have to get up at 5am. And that’s just not happening. So today, I decided it was time to try running. Two months of prep time, I should be ready for this right? I did better than I thought. Didn’t pass out when I stopped, so I was pleased. Made my usual stop my mickie d’s. Damn! Those mcmuffins are awesome. But you already knew that! And they’re even better after running.
Now it’s time to load up and go to the peanut festival. It’s the annual festival in the small town where I live. I’ll explain later. Time to go. Have a good one.

McMuffins....I'm Lovin' It

Just got back from my morning walk. I always feel so rejuvenated when I return. I've started a weekend routine. After I walk, I stop by and get an egg mcmuffin from mcdonalds. Man, I love 'em. Nothing better to start your day!
No big plans for the day. Just relax and get ready for the grind to begin again in the morning. Hope you all had a good weekend. I'll post again later if anything interesting comes up during the day.

Per Your Request

Had a request for my next post. SO, here it is!!!
WOW. What a fun filled weekend. It began with a morning walk (my favorite part of Saturday). SERIOUSLY, I love my weekend walks!! Then the real fun began. Watching Dora (with Justin), washing clothes, watching Blue's Clues (with Justin), vaccuming, cleaning bathrooms. How can I possibly stand anymore excitement. Okay, so I'm sure by now you've picked up on my sarcasism. My apologizes. I should'nt be such a smart ass.

My little one has his first cold from school. I'm surprised he made it this long without picking up something. I'm sure he'll bounce back quickly. He always does. This should explain my cartoon watching. I just cant pass up the request, "Mommy, hold me and watch dora, pleasssse." I'm slightly wrapped around that little finger of his.

We went to a birthday dinner for my great uncle. Fish fry with all the fixin's. It was nice to catch up with family I havent seen in a while. Several new additions (babies), I have not yet met. Made the "South GA" afternoon worth suffering thru. Gotta love those gnats. Besides, the grits wouldnt have been as protein packed without them. If you've never been to south georgia, leave me a comment and I'll explain in further detail.

I did manage to squeeze in a movie "Life", with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, while chatting with a friend online. And now it's after midnight and here I sit blogging. I'm such a night owl.

Well, its only getting later and later and now I need my midnight snack. So, I'll end this nonsense and get to bed, so I'll be ready for my morning walk.

Hope all is well with everyone. Hang in there while I get this blogging thing down pat.

ps. I warned you that I wouldnt have much to say.

Tid Bits

I work for an educational service agency. It can be a very trying job. But I love a few of the people I work with so I guess it makes it all worth while. It pays the bills and has lots of benefits including be at home with my child during the holidays, so I try not to complain TOO MUCH.

I've been married 3 years. And thats about all I have to say about him right now.

Now, onto my purpose in life. I have a 3 yr old son. He is my heart. A very independent and strong willed child. Tender hearted and full of love. But watch out if you piss him off. Just like his Momma!
We are now in his second week of school (preschool). Justin has been blessed by staying with both grandmothers since he was an infant. So you can just imagine the adjustment we are working through. He wants his "mommy" more than ever now. But like all things, this too shall pass. It's been a life changing experience becoming a mother. Kinda makes me wonder, what the hell did I do with all that spare time I used to have.

So, now you have some Tid Bits about me. I dont have a lot to offer. Just my own personal experiences.

Until next time......N:)
